Drought Resilience & Rangeland Restoration
We aim to rehabilitate degraded grazing lands through native vegetation restoration, sustainable land management, and community-led conservation that strengthens resilience to recurring droughts.
CLIMATE & COMMUNITY RESILIENCE
Program DevelopmentProtecting Puntland’s ecosystems. Strengthening community resilience.
OUR PLANNED PROGRAM
Puntland Global Fund aims to help vulnerable communities respond to climate change, prolonged drought, land degradation, and environmental vulnerability.
Through this proposed program, we plan to promote nature-based solutions that restore degraded ecosystems, protect natural resources, strengthen livelihoods, and build long-term resilience to climate-related shocks.
Initiatives are in development. Locations, partners, budgets, and implementation plans will be confirmed before projects are announced.
PRIORITY INITIATIVES
These proposed activities will be refined through local consultation and technical assessment.
01
We aim to rehabilitate degraded grazing lands through native vegetation restoration, sustainable land management, and community-led conservation that strengthens resilience to recurring droughts.
02
We plan to assess opportunities to protect and restore vulnerable coastal habitats, including mangroves where locally appropriate, to reduce erosion, support biodiversity, and protect livelihoods.
03
We aim to support ecosystem-based watershed rehabilitation, soil conservation, and sustainable natural resource management to improve water retention and reduce land degradation.
04
We plan to work with communities, environmental organizations, and researchers on locally led adaptation initiatives that integrate traditional knowledge, scientific research, and sustainable ecosystem management.
05
We seek partnerships with environmental institutions, development organizations, and climate-financing mechanisms to build technical capacity, mobilize resources, and develop effective nature-based solutions.
OUR APPROACH
Our planned work connects environmental restoration with practical adaptation and sustainable livelihoods.
Communities help identify priorities and shape, implement, and sustain environmental initiatives.
Healthy ecosystems and biodiversity can help reduce vulnerability to drought, erosion, and other climate-related shocks.
Restoration should support economic opportunity and community well-being alongside environmental outcomes.
We aim to work with qualified institutions and track environmental and social outcomes against clear baselines.
OUR VISION
Restored ecosystems, sustainable natural resources, and empowered communities providing a foundation for long-term environmental and economic security.
Potential partners and volunteers with experience in ecosystem restoration, climate adaptation, research, and community engagement can contribute as the initiative develops. For enquiries, email info@puntlandglobalfund.org.
